Welcome
From our farm
to your freezer.
Thank you for considering purchasing beef from our family. Buying a half or whole beef is different from shopping for individual cuts at the grocery store, especially if this is your first bulk-beef purchase. We created this guide to explain the process from reservation through pickup so you can plan with confidence.
Our goal is simple: no surprises. We want you to understand how pricing works, what hanging weight means, how much freezer space you may need, how the cut sheet works, and what to expect before your beef comes home.
About Us
We are a local family raising cattle while raising our two boys. Outside of the farm, Ben and Brianna are both registered nurses. Raising cattle is something our family truly enjoys, and we are thankful for every family who chooses to purchase beef from us. Thank you for supporting a local family and local agriculture.

Weight & size
This is one of the most important parts of buying bulk beef: hanging weight is not the same as the amount of packaged beef that goes into your freezer.
1. Live WeightThe weight of the animal while it is alive.
2. Hanging WeightAfter the hide, head, feet and internal organs are removed, the remaining carcass is weighed. This is the weight used to calculate your beef price.
3. Packaged / Take-Home WeightAfter aging, cutting, trimming, deboning as requested and packaging, the amount you take home will be less than the hanging weight. This is normal.
Final take-home weight varies with the animal and your cut choices, including bone-in versus boneless cuts, fat trimming, steak thickness, roast selections, soup bones and other processing choices.
Choosing the Right Size
Cattle naturally vary in size, so we cannot guarantee an exact hanging weight. When you reserve your beef, tell us whether you would prefer a smaller, average, or larger half. If you have a range in mind—such as 250–300 lbs hanging weight—tell us. We will do our best to accommodate your preference.
Freezer space
As a general planning estimate, one cubic foot of freezer space can hold roughly 30–35 pounds of packaged beef, depending on package shapes and how efficiently the freezer is packed. A half beef usually needs a substantial chest or upright freezer. Remember to account for any other food already stored in the freezer.
Tip: Have your freezer ready before pickup day. Extra room is much easier to manage than too little room.
Pricing and payment
$6.50 per pound hanging weight
Your final beef price is calculated using the animal's actual hanging weight. A $50 processing fee is added per half ($100 per whole). Optional or special packaging charges are added to the final amount.
Special processing requests: Certain processor options may carry an additional charge. If you request a special option that has an extra fee, that additional cost may be your responsibility.
Example Half-Beef Costs
| Hanging weight | Beef + $50 processing |
|---|---|
| 250 lbs | $1,675 |
| 300 lbs | $2,000 |
| 350 lbs | $2,325 |
| 400 lbs | $2,650 |
| 450 lbs | $2,975 |
| 500 lbs | $3,300 |
Example: a 350 lb half would be 350 × $6.50 + $50 processing = $2,325, before any optional charges. Because the hanging weight is not known until processing, we cannot give an exact final total ahead of time.
Payment and sharing
Accepted payment methods include Venmo, Apple Pay, and cash.
Customers may make payments toward their beef before the deposit due date if spreading out the cost is easier. The final balance is based on the actual hanging weight.
Splitting a Half With Someone
If a full half is more beef than your household needs, you may purchase a half and privately split it with a family member or friend. You are responsible for deciding how the meat and cost will be divided. Because your purchase price is based on hanging weight, multiplying the pounds printed on individual finished packages by $6.50 does not recreate the original cost of the beef.

Why can't you tell me exactly what my half will weigh?
Every animal is different. We can discuss your preferred size and do our best to match it, but an exact hanging weight cannot be guaranteed before processing.
Why do I take home fewer pounds than the hanging weight?
Normal weight is lost during aging, trimming, deboning and processing. Your price is based on hanging weight, not finished package weight.
Can I request a smaller half?
Yes. Tell us your preferred size range when reserving and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Can I buy a quarter?
Our beef is sold as halves or wholes. You may purchase a half and privately split it with another household.
When is the deposit due?
The agreed-upon deposit is due January 1st for Fall/Winter harvest or July 1st for Spring/Summer harvest unless otherwise discussed.
Is the deposit refundable?
No. Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable because that beef has been committed to your purchase.
Does my deposit count toward my final bill?
Yes. It is applied toward your final beef balance.
Can I make payments ahead of time?
Yes. You may make payments before the deposit deadline if that helps with budgeting.
When do I pay the remaining balance?
After hanging weight is received, the final total is calculated. The remaining balance must be paid before or at pickup/delivery.
Do I pay a separate standard processing bill?
A $50 processing fee applies per half ($100 per whole), in addition to the $6.50/lb hanging-weight price. Optional or special packaging charges may also apply.
